We woke up extra early to be in the parade supporting John Payton’s re-election (jpforjp.com). I’ll upload more pics as I get them.

Went down to the Salvation Army with a group that I am a part of (Random Acts of Kindness) and fed those that need help. The place isn’t like a normal homeless shelter in that the people that live there all have counselors, they are in the proccess of being rehabilitated, have been domestically abused, or veterans in need of somewhere to stay while they are getting treatment at the nearby VA hospital. Found out that this one in Dallas is one of the largest in the country and offers all kinds of serivces. Pretty neat stuff. Had a pretty enjoyable time, meet some cool people and had a few laughs. There were three seating sessions and during the veterans seating, as I placed the tray in front of a veteran, he asked for some sugar (we preset all the tables with silverware, napkins and sugar), yet he asked for some, I said sure, came back and noticed he had a pile in front of him. NOT THAT KIND OF SUGAR!!!! hahaha DORK!  Good times. Can’t wait to go back.

Stem Cells: Are They All The Same?

“If human embryonic stem cell research does not make you at least a little bit uncomfortable, you have not thought about it enough.”

          — James A. Thomson

“Destroying human life in the hopes of saving human life is not ethical, and it is not the only option before us,”

          — George W. Bush

Cloning provides several societal benefits including the opportunity to uncover cures for once untreatable diseases, prevent the extinction of various species, and improve production capacity to ease food shortages. With all the scientific breakthroughs in animal and horticulture cloning, and regenerative medicine capabilities, are there really any negatives to cloning and stem cell research?

Many find stem cell research and therapy unethical because they believe that life begins at the point of conception.  Others think that creating an identical twin for the sake of replacement, or as a donor for a medical condition, is not only wrong but also immoral. While both arguments are plausible, the benefit to society as a whole far outweighs the disadvantages.  Specifically, cloning and stem cell research facilitates scientific research for cures due to the unlimited availability of test samples necessary for repeated trials.

Bout Frickin Time! Been way too long since we’ve been able to get everyone on the water at the same time. The BFF’s (Dad and John) decided to do a Father/Kiddo fishing trip and hire a guide. The guide was fantastic at finding the fish, but boy did he talk. Never have done some much talking while fishing before… at leasta the fish weren’t scared. Anywho…somebody (um ME) caught the first, and biggest fish. I would say I caught the last, but was a lil cocky with my fish and wasn’t keeping count. Speaking of which, this time, instead of boy names, they all got stripper names (being that we did catch stripper (bass), seemed fitting). Started off with Billy Bob as my first, then the names went down hill with basicaly every girl name imaginable, so long as it either ended with an “i”, was a car name or some sort of food/candy (or Candi, if you prefer). Yah we caught us some real “hookers” hahaha. Sure wish I was able to upload some sound bite from some of the convo, but let’s just say the motion picture association wouldn’t be able to classify it. A few guide boats tied up to us, but weren’t successful in catching anything. We caught at least  a 100 lbs of fish… yah, that’s a frickin crap load of fish. Can’t wait til the fish fry, though I did manage to squirel some away and had it on my plate 20 minutes after I got home. mmmmm fish.
